To celebrate the one year anniversary of  Xbox One backwards compatibility, and the program reaching over 300 games, Microsoft are giving Lost Odyssey away for free until December 31.

Originally, players could only play this classic title on the Xbox One with a physical copy, but Microsoft have managed to allow players who missed out on this game the chance to download the title. Xbox Wire editor Mike Nelson said that the free game is “our small way of saying thank you for being a fan of Xbox”.

Lost Odyssey is a JRPG which follows the adventured of Kaim, a mysterious immortal warrior on a journey of self discovery. A deep and fairly intense RPG, it was originally released on four (!) discs for the Xbox 360 in 2008 and featured some really fantastic and emotional story-telling. Lost Odyssey was developed by Mistwalker, a game studio made up of many icons in gaming including the creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi… so if you like JRPG’s even in the slightest, you’re going to want to check this one out!
