Next Up Hero will have you lining up for a fight

Aspyr Media and Digital Continue have announced their new title, Next Up Hero, will be available early 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

In a pretty cool concept, the action-adventure game takes the idea of “Community Continue”, where players take it in turns fighting and dying, working to conquer impossibly hard monsters and bosses together, one hero at a time.

Next Up Hero

“Choose from nine heroes with an assortment of weapons and abilities to suit your playstyle, from swords and rocket launchers to laser turrets, bongo drums, and boomerangs. When you die, you’ll leave behind an Echo of your hero on the battlefield. The next in the line of heroes will be able to resurrect your Echo as an AI battle companion. Take turns continuing friends’ games, fighting and dying until you have an entire army of Echoes by your side, and enough strength to finally defeat those jerk monsters. Everyone dies. Heroes continue.” says the press release.

Developer Digital Continue is founded by Joe Tringali, who was the co-founder of 5TH Cell, the development team responsible for the popular and creative Scribblenauts, Drawn to Life and Lock’s Quest.

Next Up Hero certainly looks like a lot of fun with heaps of style. A closed beta is kicking off today, before moving into Steam Early Access later this year and then dropping the final product on all platforms early 2018. For more information check out the official website.
