After releasing just two weeks ago, Cuphead has gone platinum, having sold 1 million copies since its launch on September 29, according to the games developer StudioMDHR.

“We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead – it truly makes it all worth it,” wrote art director Chad Moldenhauer and lead game designer Jared Moldenhauer.

Cuphead

The much-hyped indie title is pretty great, combining an old school gaming challenge with an aesthetic that is charming and unique. It’s good to see it doing so well in such a short period of time.

In our review of Cuphead we said: “Normally when a game is this tough it can be off-putting, but the combination of intense difficulty and the skill required to learn each pattern is incredibly satisfying. It’s a fine balance that Cuphead is able to achieve with every single boss you’ll encounter, and even when you’re feeling frustrated, the brilliant soundtrack and completely unique art direction will keep you smiling with every new attempt.”

Are you one of the 1 million people to have purchased Cuphead? On a scale of one to infuriated, how are you feeling about the tough as nails title?
