Xenoblade Chronicles 2 finishing off strong launch year for Switch

Posted on November 8, 2017

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 launches in less than a few weeks on the Nintendo Switch, and some new information from a Nintendo Direct presentation this morning shows why it could indeed be the perfect finish to a strong launch year for Nintendo’s newest console.

Following on from Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii U, today we got to see more of the characters, story, combat, mechanics and more  in action, along with information about the game’s season pass, ensuring an ongoing commitment to new content for the following year.

There’s a lot of information about how gameplay works (Xenoblade always has been a little bit complicated and this looks to be no exception), so it’s best to watch the presentation rather than have me attempt to explain it to you. The world looks to be bursting with places to explore, team members to recruit, a variety of wildlife and much more, showing a scope that could even be greater than what we saw in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild earlier this year.

Speaking of Breath of the Wild, some bonus content for the launch title will be available from Thursday, with a special mission that will unlock a new outfit for Link once completed. The outfit is inspired by Rex, the main character of the game, and will be free to download.
