Total War: ARENA launches its open access event

Posted on February 5, 2018

Total War: ARENA is a game that has been under development for some time now. A collaborative project between Wargaming and Creative Assembly, the two studios are looking to bring both of their skill-sets into one united game. A game that can bring historical accuracy, real time strategy, and competitive online multiplayer. I first got a look at the game behind closed doors at PAX Australia but now everybody can jump in on the action thanks to an open access event starting right now.

From now until February 7 at 8pm AEDT, players can join the war and play as a legendary commander from across history. Total War: ARENA offers giant 10 v 10 battles where each player controls 3 squads of up to 100 units. Being described as a hybrid between RTS and MOBA games, the game certainly offers a fresh spin on the Total War formula. Those who jump in during the open access event will also be eligible to join the game’s Immortal’s programs where you can begin earning rewards for your game that includes exp, currency bonuses and customisation options. New players can also redeem the code ‘ TWAASIAOW ‘ to earn 500 gold and 7 days of premium account time.

The game is still going through closed beta and once it enters open beta all progress will be wiped, except for the rewards earned through the Immortals program. When the game releases, it will be a free-to-play competitive online experience. If you’re ready to head into battle, check out the game’s website to begin joining in on the historical battles.
