Bright and Blinding! Luminous Avenger iX announced on Switch

Some exciting news has just come from Japanese game developers Inti Creates with the announcement of Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX! Currently in development this game will be coming to Nintendo Switch and will be the first game to showcase a different main character from the Gunvolt series.

For those new to the series Gunvolt is a 2D side-scrolling action platformer, much in the same vein as the Mega Man X series. However for those who have played the Mega Man series, they would note that Gunvolt attempts to go beyond that of its predecessor and add a bit more flash and flare to the mix. In the trailer shown below we get to see just how ‘flashy’ it can be!

Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX will follow the story, not of Gunvolt, but his arch-rival and anti-hero of the series Copen, also know as “The Adept Slayer”. Of course the aesthetic similarities between Gunvolt and Copen closely mirror that of X and Zero, I don’t see this as being of any real importance as the story differs greatly. The gameplay trailer looks hectic and action packed with Copen bouncing all over the screen, which for a side-scroller is perfect and will definitely keep players on their toes. On top of this, Copen appears to have his own targeting system to take out his foes with various powerful attacks.

Despite being announced for the Nintendo Switch,  there has been no official release date announced for Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX. On the plus side, with its ‘in development’ status still standing I think this makes for a good excuse to go back play both of the original Azure Striker Gunvolt games on my handy 3DS to psych myself up for this upcoming game.
