Nintendo announces a new Octopath Traveller demo ahead of launch

Posted on June 13, 2018

Octopath Traveller is finally due for release in July this year, just enough time for Nintendo to announce and drop a final demo of the upcoming Square RPG retro throwback. The new Octopath Traveller demo is ready for download on the 14th of June . This will give potential players an opportunity to sink their teeth into the first chapter of the game and players will be able to carry their save over to the full game when it releases.

In case you live under a rock, Octopath Traveller is a turn based RPG from Square. It features a unique HD-2D environment with Super Nintendo style character sprites and textures with polygon and hi definition effects. It features 8 selectable characters with their own stories and unique abilities.

The latest trailer gets a bit more in depth with the characters and provides a fair idea about how the game will play and what it looks like. The HD-2D concept is a great idea however there could be an argument made that the resulting retro gameplay may need a tweak. Rumour is that gamer feedback from the original demo that came out last year has been taken on board by Square and the game is improved. In a couple of days download the demo and check it out for yourself. In the meantime, here’s the latest trailer from E3 2018.
