Fortnite Season 5 brings interdimensional chaos

Posted on July 13, 2018

Popular Battle Royale king, Epic Games’ Fortnite, quite literally unleashes Season 5 upon the world. Drop now and discover new map updates from mysterious mind-bending rifts, a fresh battle pass, the first four-person vehicle, and a creative asset pack.

Tears in time and space are blending the Fortnite universe with ours, absorbing things from our world into the Battle Royale. The traditional Fortnite plane now features a Viking ship and enigmatic ancient statues. Beloved location Moisty Mire is suffering from a dry and sandy drought, introducing a brand new desert outpost.  New locations Lazy Links and Paradise Palms open up more variety across favoured arenas this season.

Save the World mode is going Wild Wild West with a whole range of cowboy cosmetics and weapons during the Road Trip event. Fortnite Season 5 may boost popularity in the often neglected area of the game giving players the ability to fight off Husks with flintlock weapons, a trusty wide-brimmed hat, and the pure adrenaline of ‘feelin’ lucky’.

A fresh Battle Pass accompanies Season 5 of Fortnite. Featuring exciting toys and cosmetics, the package includes more than 100 rewards to unlock. Challenge your mates to a round of basketball or golf, or play catch with a beach ball. Buyers receive two exclusive outfits, then battle against the world and complete Weekly Challenges to level up their Battle Pass and earn rewards faster. Achieve enough Weekly Challenges and reveal rare rewards! It’s a mere 950 V-bucks, Fortnite’s in-game currency, to pick up for the Season 5.

The brand new All Terrain Kart (ATK) resembles a golf buggy with an off-roading twist. Zoom around the map in record times and wipe out opposing squads with up to four friends in your kart.  Developers are hinting that with the use of the vehicle, players are able to access or uncover hidden locations or secrets along with their journey… and maybe a gnarly jump or two.

Those with a bit of a creative touch will be happy to see Epic Games’ new asset pack. The tools will allow experimentation with Fortnite elements and open up the floodgates for user-generated content.

The full patch notes for Fortnite version 5.0 and Season 5 are available on the Epic Games website.
