Locked and Loaded — Rinoa Heartilly shoots onto Dissidia Final Fantasy NT

Posted on July 15, 2018

Square Enix has finally revealed their latest entrant into the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT gauntlet, and it’s none other than fan-favourite Rinoa Heartilly. Final Fantasy VIII’s main heroine has graced the FF universe with some of the most memorable scenes throughout the series’ 30 year run, as well as some of the most unique attacks and limit breaks. All of which are making a glorious return on the arcade and PlayStation 4 game.

The trailer starts with Rinoa using an onslaught of her Bravery attacks, including “Harpy Shoot”, “Angelo Call”, “Angelo Rush”, and even one of my favourites “Angelo Cannon”. It’s clear from the get-go that Rinoa will be a mid-to-long range fighter, a Marksman as it’s known in-game, as her attacks are predominantly projectile in nature.

Possessing the powers of a Sorcerous, not unlike Ultimecia, Rinoa is able to evoke her secondary limit break, “Angel Wings”, in a new EX Skill known as “Vary”. These appear to allow her to effortlessly fly in mid-air, while frequently unleashing a barrage of high level spells. Projectile magic’s like Holy, Flare, Tornado, and Blizzaga can all be seen in full force here, and looks as though they do considerable damage.

Her first HP attack, “Meltdown”, will be an energy attack that can be charged to increase the damage output of the move. Finally Rinoa gets a unique ability known as Angel Recovery, which heals her of damage after taking on a certain percentage with the assistance of her faithful four legged companion Angelo.

Rinoa Heartilly is expected to arrive onto the arcade version of Dissidia Final Fantasy in the games July update. As for her arrival onto Dissidia Final Fantasy NT for the PlayStation 4, her debut is expected to take place towards the end of August, 2018 worldwide.
