Sony join the war of the minis by announcing the PlayStation Classic

Posted on September 19, 2018

In the war of the mini consoles it was only a matter of time before we saw the big guns like Microsoft or Sony join the likes of Nintendo in creating mini versions of their past consoles. And jumping on that bandwagon first with full steam is Sony who have just announced the upcoming release of the PlayStation Classic.

The console will arrive later this year on the 3rd December, 2018. This is a historic date for fans of PlayStation as it will be a milestone celebrating 25 years since PlayStation was originally released to the world back on the 3rd December, 1994. The PlayStation Classic version will be approximately 45 percent smaller than the original PlayStation and will come preloaded with 20 classic titles, including fan-favourites such as Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, R4 Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3 and Wild Arms.

As you can see in the video the PlayStation Classic truly capture the look and feel of the original PlayStation all contained within a fun size package. One of the big questions that comes when purchasing a mini console is will an AC adaptor be included? And annoyingly, much like the popular Nintendo mini consoles, the PlayStation Classic won’t include an AC adaptor, with the only power option being the bundled USB cable. However in the box will be two classic PlayStation controllers for you to enjoy multiplayer fun right out of the box.
