Slay the Spire is going into full release very soon

Megacrit has announced that its popular strategy game, Slay the Spire, will leave Steam’s Early Access soon. The full release of the game will be live on the 23rd of January. The Early Access version of Slay the Spire has been available since November 2017.

The developers announced their plans in the latest content patch released through Steam on the 18th of January.  Since its release last year, the game has garnered a lot of praise and has steadily gained popularity on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

Slay the Spire is a card game that combines elements of roguelike and turn-based strategy games. The aim of the game is to climb to the top of the Spire, while fighting different creatures along the way.  Players can choose one of three characters, each with specific playstyles, perks, and abilities. Each character also has unique cards to use in combat.

One of the features that makes the game so engaging (and addictive!) is the map of the Spire. At the start of each run, the game generates a random map. Players can only receive new cards through random events, or after defeating an enemy. Because of these mechanics, crafting a deck and strategising on the fly is a key part of the game.

Players can devise a deck that centers around either an offensive or defensive strategy. However, since you never know what’s just around the corner, this strategy game will keep you on your toes!

The full release is set to include a slight price increase and include further updates in the future. The developers have also expressed interest in releasing the game on mobile at a later stage.  The Nintendo Switch release trailer for Slay The Spire was already announced in August 2018, and the game is expected to be available on the Nintento eShop sometime in 2019.

Have questions for the folks from Megacrit? The developers will be holding a Reddit AMA on the 23rd of January, where users can ask them anything to do with Slay the Spire.
