Get your first look at Astral Chain for the Switch

Today’s Nintendo Direct has brought a great many things, one of which has been the reveal Astral Chain, the latest game by developer Platinum Games, the geniuses behind such titles as Vanquish, Nier Automata, and Bayonetta.

At first glance the game appears to be a bit of a mish-mash between two of the developers previous titles, Nier Automata and Bayonetta, which if you are a fan of either game is certainly going to please, but this doesn’t mean that the game is a carbon copy of either of those titles.. Astral Chain is a cyberpunk action title and sees its characters fighting alongside cybernetics in a multicultural futuristic city.

In the trailer for Astral Chain we see that the two characters are dressed in a police uniform and fight in unison. It all appears very heavily anime based, which isn’t surprising from this developer and we see our characters fighting giant monsters with swords and transforming moreso than patrolling the beat. Also visible throughout the trailer are the characters chained together in numerous moments, which clearly leads to the games title.

For now this is all we know about Astral Chain as Nintendo and Platinum Games are both keeping quiet on the full details, however you can check out the full trailer from today’s Nintendo Direct below.

Astral Chain will launch August 30th as a Nintendo Switch exclusive and we expect it to fill the gap nicely whilst we wait for news of Bayonetta 3.
