The stylish and energetic half-genie Shantae will be making a return with a brand new game! Shantae 5 has been announced by Wayforward Studios to be arriving later this year and it looks like nobody will have to miss out. Shantae 5 will be available for Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and even Apple Arcade, the newly-announced game subscription service for iOS devices.
Shantae is a series that has been around for more than 15 years, though it’s never really broken into mainstream popularity. Starting in 2002 on the Gameboy Color, the series follows the titualar Shantae, a half-genie tasked with protecting the middle-eastern fantasy world Sequin Land from her sexy pirate nemesis Risky Boots. The series is well regarded for its sidescroller platforming gameplay, charming setting, and sweet soundtrack.
With every next entry to the series looking and sounding better than the last, we’ll be excited to see a first look at this new Shantae adventure. WayForward Studios haven’t revealed any details about the new Shantae that’s coming our way, so we don’t know anything yet about the plot or gameplay so far.
