Metal Gear Survive announced at Gamescom

Kept you waiting, huh? Konami has announced Metal Gear Survive, a stealth based co-op game set within the Metal Gear universe, IGN has revealed .

So what is Metal Gear Survive?

After the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, where the members of Big Boss’ Militaires Sans Frontières are attacked, those that are not killed in the game’s finale are transported to an alternate universe, where they’re forced to survive against unknown forces.

Zombies? A first for the Metal Gear series

Konami European president Tomotada Tashiro stated in a press release that “Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series’ famed stealth elements, but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multiplayer experience.”

Wormholes don’t seem to be all that fun

Konami hasn’t revealed much in terms of concrete details about the game at this point. They intend to release more details soon.

Since the departure of series creator Hideo Kojima last year, Konami are yet to specify whether any of the original Kojima Productions team that worked on the previous entries will be working on the new game.

Long time fans of the series have been sceptical of a new release since the departure of Kojima. Konami are intending to focus on mobile games more so than consoles. They have even remade Metal Gear Solid 3, a fan favourite, entirely into a pachinko machine, much to the dismay of fans.

Metal Gear Survive is expected to release for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2017.
