Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 announced for Switch

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 has been announced, and it will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. This marks the first new entry in the franchise since Ultimate Alliance 2 in 2009. Team Ninja, known for Nioh and the Ninja Gaiden games, will develop. This will mark the team’s first collaboration with Nintendo since Metroid: Other M for the Wii back in 2010.

The new game in the franchise, which will be called Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, involves many superheroes from the Marvel universe teaming up to stop Thanos and his Black Order allies. It is an original story that doesn’t tie into other Marvel games or films.

However, the plot sounds somewhat similar to the plot of the recent MCU film Avengers: Infinity War. As such, it makes sense to tell a story about Thanos and the Black Order now that general audiences are familiar with those characters.

The Marvel Ultimate Alliance games are isometric action-RPGs,where players control a small team of Marvel characters, each with various different abilities. They can be played solo, but have also supported local multiplayer.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 will be exclusive to the Switch, and will support up to four player local co-op on a single console. This marks the first time an Ultimate Alliance game is exclusive to a Nintendo console, as the first two games were widely released on various consoles and PC.
