Paradox announces Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 for Q1 2020 release

Posted on March 22, 2019

Back in February, Paradox Interactive begun teasing a new video game by creating a dating app by the name of Tender. Unlike other apps, Tender focused on blood, matching you with people who share your blood type in the area. Ultimately the entire Tender experience was an ARG that lead people to believe a new game was about to be announced. Today that announcement happened, and the game is Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

Whilst no actual gameplay has been revealed, Paradox did answer some question in a reveal event that was live-streamed over on their Twitch account. A trailer was already released that you should certainly check out below.

For those who haven’t yet played the original Bloodlines game, it released back in 2004 and quickly accumulated a cult following. It was a game based on the World of Darkness pen and paper RPG and had a huge amount of promise for a game of its time. Bloodlines was massively ambitious, allowing the player to explore the streets of Santa Monica (amongst other locations) as a newly created vampire searching for your creator. The game had some unbelievable voice acting and writing talent which still remains as some of my favourite of all time. It crafted a fantastic narrative with so much player freedom and unbelievably detailed and engaging lore.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 therefore has a lot to live up to. During the game’s reveal the developers and writers behind the project suggested that the things that were so amazing about the original game will remain, and some of the more rough patches will be enhanced. Specifically combat got a mention, which was one of the biggest critiques of the original game. Hopefully Bloodlines 2 will also be a bit more complete and less glitchy, another issues the original game suffered from.
