On our second visit to the plane of Ixalan, it’s time to head deep underground. Magic: the Gathering’s The Lost Caverns of Ixalan launches on 17th November 2023, returning us to the Mesoamerican-inspired plane full of merfolk, pirates, vampires and dinosaurs. It’s time for a perilous new adventure filled with treasure, glory and rivalry… and maybe more.

Activated abilities: Descend 4 – When ~ enters the battlefield, if there are four or more permanent cards in your graveyard, return up to one target nonland permanent other than ~ to its owner’s hand.
As a 4/4 blue flyer, Council of Echoes is immediately reminiscent of one of the original blue MTG staples: Air Elemental (which was re-printed in the original Ixalan set). For one mana extra, you get a relevant creature type (Spirit) and a conditional bounce utilising the new Decend ability word, which may come in handy in a sealed or draft game.
