The first-ever Frosty Games Fest, Australia’s answer to the Summer Games Fest, has just aired, showcasing over 50 games developed in both Australia and New Zealand. Although there’s a lot to sift through, here are some games we recommend checking out the demos of from the showcase!
Key Fairy
Release date: TBAPlatforms: PCDeveloper: Owl Machine
Links: Steam page
“A hand-drawn, pacifist, folkloric, bullet-hell. Grapple and dance around monsters to collect their shattered stars, weave your way through twisting paths, encounter strange folk, uncover ancient magic, and evade forgotten gods in this frenetic 2D action-adventure.”
Look, we’re a little biased on this one. We were already enamoured with this charming, striking little adventure at PAX Aus last year. Its striking art style and fast, fluid action RPG combat are super compelling and, better yet, it’s made by trans developers and has trans characters in its cast! All the more reason to show them some love.
Match & Mastery
Release date: TBAPlatforms: PCDeveloper: FourFox Interactive
Links: Steam page
“Match & Mastery is a Turn-Based Tactics game with a Match-3 twist, where you play as a student whose school has been destroyed by a conflict between two sisters. We have a really unique way of using the Match 3 board to dictate movement and attacking and are targeting players who are looking for an accessible game that provides constant challenge. Each run provides unpredictable challenges with the map, room layouts, and enemy and NPC encounters all procedurally generated.”
‘Turn-Based Tactics’ and ‘Match-3’ are words that excite my freak self as is, but the fusion of both makes my heart sing. This, selfishly, feels like a game engineered in a lab to please me specifically. Set in a fantasy world, I enjoy the little flourishes that are already present in the trailer alone: a little elf nurse travelling through a portal to revive the player character is unbelievably charming. Simple but tight premises please me, what can I say?!
GHOST CAM
Release date: TBA 2025Platforms: VR (Steam)Developer: ARCH REBELS
Links: Steam page
“Your camera sees what your eyes cannot. Explore eerie liminal spaces, capture spirits before they capture you, and unravel a haunting mystery. But beware—the deeper you go, the more the world distorts, and some ghosts will do anything to remain unseen.”
It’s great to see more Aussie devs jumping into the VR space! And by a women-led team at that! GHOST CAM looks colourful, silly and charming despite its spooky premise. Capturing entities via a Polaroid camera is an incredibly novel hook; I can’t wait to be taking the most cursed cryptid photos the world has ever seen.
Schrodinger’s Cat Burglar
Release date: TBA Platforms: PCDeveloper: Abandoned Sheep
Links: Steam page
“Portal with cats – a puzzle heist adventure with a quantum flavour! Mittens the cat stumbles into a quantum experiment and gains incredible new powers – the ability to be in two places at once. Explore, solve logic puzzles and evade capture by pest control robots to ultimately save the day!”
Schrodinger’s Cat Burglar joins the long line of charming cat-led games but trades domestic chaos for puzzles in a science facility! Clone yourself. Mess about with the physics! Be oh so fuzzy, furry and cute! It looks like if Stray and Portal had a baby and I am all for it.
How Was Your Day?
Release date: TBA Platforms: PCDeveloper: Mad Carnival
Links: Steam page
“Caught in a strange time loop and with her beloved dog, Beans, missing, 13-year-old Diya discovers that building meaningful connections is key to solving the sinister mystery in this beautifully illustrated 80s-themed narrative adventure. Can Diya break free from the endless cycle and find Beans?”
How Was Your Day? has an art style going for it that looks like an incredibly picturesque and deeply moving picture book that I just want to get absolutely lost in. All I can say is I’m sold on looks alone, and I sure hope that dog Beans is okay.

Jupiter Junkworks
Release date: October 2025 (Early Access)Platforms: PCDeveloper: Pixel Drake
Links: Steam page
“Fast paced arcade puzzle action awaits you in Jupiter Junkworks! Complete arcade puzzle contracts to earn resources while rebuilding and upgrading a ruined spaceship junkyard. All set in a sci-fi narrative campaign mode where you’ll join an unlikely trio of travellers as they overcome challenges.”
I’d be lying if I didn’t say that giving a Tetris-like game some narrative didn’t entice me deeply. This sci-fi jaunt looks like a blast and to be more than meets the eye, mixing up familiar mechanics by the way you’re clearing sections. I love me a good puzzle game, and the good news is I don’t even have to wait that long for the Early Access launch! Let’s go!
Snow Cone
Release date: TBAPlatforms: PCDeveloper: Hungry Sky
Links: Steam page
“Snow Cone is a Sokoban-like puzzle game about rolling icy treats and cleaning up the streets! Roll snowballs and scoop them into Snow Cones to match customers’ orders. Solve challenging puzzles and expose the truth behind the city’s shady penguin underbelly. (It’s not all black and white!)”
Finally, a frosty game for Frosty Game Fest! I’m a simple girl. I see a penguin game, it goes on my wishlist. We were quite big fans of this one at PAX Aus last year, too.

Enter the Chronosphere
Release date: TBAPlatforms: PCDeveloper: Effort Star
Links: Steam page
“Turn-based bullet hell. Play as misfit aliens, craft wild combinations between hundreds of weapons, items, and abilities, and disable uncharted chronospheres: Colossal structures that consume time and distort reality.”
Space western setting infused with a tactics game that employs the SUPERHOT-esque gameplay mechanic of time slowing… this much ambition and excitement is too much for me to take. Of course, I’m loving it on hook alone, but add on top of that the graphic novel art style and you’ve got me there on day one. Sold.
Foodomina
Release date: TBAPlatforms: PCDeveloper: Lumelli Studios
Links: Steam page
“Foodomina is a morally layered Food vs Mold themed RPG, where you play as personified Food Girls & fight Mould People in space! Explore a whimsical, galactic food-themed society that’s rich in flavour, and engage in absurd, pun-fuelled combat to save the galaxy from Mould infection.”
Two adorable space girls, one with shrimp for hair. Bullet hell combat that’s reminiscent of Earthbound. Rich pixel art and chiptune music. Why can’t this be in my library as of yesterday? I would like to join the Food Wars now.
And without further ado, those are just ten of the games with demos worth checking out of the Frosty Games Fest. All in all, an incredibly wonderful and diverse lineup for the first of what we hope to be many showcases from the Frosty Games team. Are you going to check out any demos from the fest? Sound off in the comments below!
