9 highlights from the Southeast Asian Games Showcase

The first Southeast Asian Games Showcase dropped a number of fantastic titles from developers across the region. As an official media partner, we covered some of the biggest titles like Whisper Mountain Outbreak, Building Relationships, and Lost & Found Co. But there were plenty of other standout games in the showcase, and we wanted to give them a mention as well!

SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure

SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure takes you to an unexplored island where you create amazing dishes from Southeast Asia in a co-op adventure. Gon is the hunter who gathers ingredients while Som is the chef who puts everything together. As the duo travels further into the island, they fill the mysterious Makanomicon with the dishes they create. The developers are from Singapore and showcase some of the highlights of nyonya cuisine from simple delights to famous specialties.

What if you could eat your feelings? This game created by a studio from the Philippines investigates that concept through donuts. Figure out what donuts improve the mood of your customers to make them satisfied customers. But trouble brews when all of your exes happen to come back around the same time. Mend relationships, create the best donut business you can, and cheer up your customers. But be careful as your choices matter and if you choose poorly, it can haunt you.

Eat the Rich

What if all the billionaires were forced to play in a survival game by the masses? Eat the Rich is a creation by a studio from the Philippines where 6-10 players battle for survival. Players get to vote each other out and eventually it’s down to three players. Fight to gain the most pennies and be the last man standing! If being a billionaire financially is out of reach, why not be a billionaire contestant instead?

Each of these games have premises that I thought were interesting and would love to experience at some point. Some of them are already out but others need a bit more time until they are ready. Southeast Asia’s game development scene is growing, pushing out great games for everyone to enjoy. Explore games with a perspective unique to the region, whether it’s historical, cultural, or an interesting concept.
