After lots of anticipation, Nintendo did not disappoint at their Nintendo Treehouse earlier today, showing off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild properly for the first time.
Firstly, it has a name now that’s not just ‘Zelda Wii U’ or ‘Zelda NX’, which is great. They also showed off a bit of a demo at the conference, and advised that the demo – which contains a large portion of open field as well as several enemies, Shrines, and more – represents just 1% of the game’s total size., and that the overall map will be 12 times the size of the world seen in Twilight Princess. Check out the first gameplay footage below:
On top of that, they revealed some interesting things regarding amiibo functionality, including the ability to bring Wolf Link on the journey with you to assist Link with combat and hunting if you have the amiibo from Twilight Princess HD.
They also revealed some new amiibo that will be available when Breath of the Wild launches, and they look pretty cool, featuring flexible parts on an amiibo for the first time.
Nintendo have also stated that the experience for Wii U and NX owners will be the same, so don’t fret if you were thinking you had to invest in a new console for this one. They also confirmed that the game will feature Pro Controller support, which is great for a more comfortable gaming experience with the gamepad.
We’re just itching to play this one after seeing this footage… what do you think?
