Courtesy of Polygon, today we have received over 8 minutes of gameplay footage for the modern remake of System Shock.
When it first released way back in 1994 System Shock became an instant classic. The first-person ARPG was ground-breaking in many respects and was received with huge critical acclaim. In many ways the game lead the charge for story driven, first-person, action games with titles such as Deus Ex and BioShock being built directly on top of the foundation that System Shock laid. Now, more than two decades later, developer ‘Night Dive Studios’ is attempting to re-create the classic game for the modern age.
Taken straight from their website, the developers claim that they “will keep the new game true to the classic experience, keeping all the things you loved, while updating the user interface and graphics to use a modern day engine (Unity).”
Unfortunately the game is not looking like it will be released any time soon. In fact the project hasn’t even received the funding it needs yet to come to fruition. The developers will be launching a Kickstarter campaign very shortly so watch this space for further information.
