EA Sports have revealed today that the cover star for FIFA 17 will be Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund.
Because I know so much about sport, I can tell you that Reus is “a technically proficient footballer. Strong with either foot, lethal from a dead ball, and with a knack for scoring important goals, the German international has featured in the Bundesliga Team of the Year four times and is the heart and soul of his hometown club.” See? I know all about him!
Fans had the option to select a football star out of Reus, Anthony Martial, James Rodriguez, and Eden Hazard to grace the FIFA 17 cover, through voting on the FIFA Cover Vote website.
“It is incredible to see how fans get behind their favorite player – Marco plays for a great club, is really fun to watch, and he is very popular in FIFA Ultimate Team, so it makes a lot of sense that the fans picked him,” said Nick Channon, Senior Producer for EA SPORTS FIFA. “ Reus joins an elite group of international football superstars who have appeared on the cover of FIFA over the years.”
“I’m honored to join a very distinguished group of footballers to appear on the cover of FIFA,” said Reus. “Most of all I am humbled that the fans have chosen me, and I will strive to make them proud with my performance on the pitch.”
Last month we learned about the new engine that FIFA 17 would be using – things are definitely falling into place for its September 29th release date, so get excited, football fans!
