ELEAGUE and FACEIT have joined forces to create an open tournament for Overwatch with some serious money up for grabs.
The Overwatch Open starts with an online phase comprised of European and North American teams to determine finalists. Regional and Grand finals will take place at Turner Studios’ ELEAGUE arena in Atlanta.
The Grand Final will be presented live on TBS and via Twitch, with the winning team to take home $100,000 USD: the largest amount for an Overwatch tournament to date.
Online rounds began yesterday, and will culminate with playoffs from the 26th-28th of August. The Regional and Grand finals will then begin a month later on the 25th of September.
Both companies are looking forward to the tournament, with Chief Business Officer of FACEIT, Michelle Attisani saying “we are confident that our capabilities as a platform and knowledge as a media partner will make this an exciting tournament for fans.”
