A new trailer and beta testing is underway for the new RPG Post Brutal for mobile devices, where you play as yourself being a survivor of a zombie apocalypse by importing your own face and sound bites in creating your avatar. Claimed by the developer Hell Tap as “console quality” gaming for iOS and Android devices, Post Brutal is a 3D third-person action RPG set in City Zero after “The Event”, which caused over half of the city to go into a zombie state.
The game promises to incorporate a variety of weapons, ranging from everyday items such as kitchen knives, baseball bats, medieval weapons (um…OK), a range of guns and the promising Personal Flamethrower. I will tell you now I will be using as many Ripley quotes as I can if I am to use a flamethrower (“Get away from her, you b*tch!”).
Like many dystopian releases of late, game developers are attempting to incorporate more and more richness into their storylines and Post Brutal promises that you will “Get to know other survivors through conversation, discover what is happening elsewhere in emails and journals, uncover official records that fill in pieces of the puzzles, and even hear what the outside world thinks of the situation through news bulletins, and how far from reality that may be.”
Now being “brutally” honest, the gameplay looks a bit clunky in the trailer and the storyline possibly cliché, but it is always an intriguing concept to be able to incorporate yourself into the story; and can be a quite clever move for the developers as the player creates their own back story.
Whether or not City Zero deserves to be saved remains to be seen, but check out the trailer below and see what you think:
