One thing you can be sure of every year is a new edition of the WWE 2K franchise; it’s going to be even easier to get hyped for this years version, WWE 2K17, as new features about the popular wrestling game franchise have been revealed by 2K Games.
Now, as a wrestling fan, the pace of last years edition 2K16 was pretty great, featuring a slow but methodical style that matched the product that we see on television every year. That being said, while strong in the gameplay department, it was somewhat lacking in features, including a lackluster and repetitive career mode. WWE 2K17 is set to address some of these things, with the following features being added:
- The ability to compete in the crowd and backstage areas
- Updating game systems like Ladders, Taunts and a new secondary submission system
- Thousands of new animations
Interestingly, there will be no 2K Showcase this year, which previously took a specific wrestler and explored their history, featuring key matches in their career. Instead, the focus will be on My Career and WWE Universe modes; which, if I’m being honest, sounds like a great decision, given how meaty those modes can be.
In these modes, you’ll be able to show off your superstar in every way possible, with a brand new Promo Engine that ‘lets the WWE Superstars express their thoughts and emotions to the WWE Universe and one another.” 2K Games have also confirmed that the roster will be even bigger than last year, which is impressive to say the least.
We’ll have more info on WWE 2K17 including the full roster release as soon as it becomes available; it’s only two months away, launching on October 10th!
In the meantime, why don’t you check out Finn Balor’s entrance that was revealed a few days ago.
