While commonplace for consoles, split-screen action isn’t typically a format of gaming standardised on the PC. Ensuring comparability with multiple different resolutions and keeping the UI looking clean and readable on a smaller screen may well be two big barriers that have left developers hesitant in the past. Most likely though, it is the mere fact that the amount of people who would want the feature isn’t enough to warrant the effort. So it comes as great surprise and pleasure to see a developer put in that extra effort to give their PC fans a little treat – and we thank you for it!
Gears of War 4 will not only feature split-screen gameplay for consoles but for the PC as well. Also exciting to note is that the game will have cross-platform play between Windows 10 and Xbox One. The two platforms can play campaign co-op, horde mode, multiplayer vs AI and PVP multiplayer in private games together. They will not be able to play standard PVP multiplayer though, which is probably for the best; we wouldn’t want our console friends to feel too outclassed would we?
