The Last Guardian delayed

Posted on September 13, 2016

It seems that Sony and gen DESIGN’s follow-up to Shadow of the Colossus has been delayed.  The team have made the tough decision to delay The Last Guardian till the end of the year to kill some bugs.  It was previously given a release date of October 25, but will now launch on December 7 in Australia.

Updated on the PlayStation Blog, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida stated that they were taking the time to fix some bugs in the game.

“The Last Guardian development team is fast approaching major milestones in production and has made the tough decision to delay the release of The Last Guardian a few weeks”  Yoshida stated.

“Fumito Ueda, gen DESIGN and JAPAN Studio have a wonderful vision for The Last Guardian’s touching, emotional journey of friendship and trust, and we want to deliver the most polished experience possible for our fans who have supported us for so long. A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game, but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.”

The Last Guardian was originally announced back in 2009 as a PS3 title, but all went quiet in the Last Guardian camp with rumours circulating of the games silent demise. Sony then pulled it back from the brinks of death and announced its release on the PS4 at E3 2015.

This is quite a big delay, but in a game we’ve all waited so long for, whats a couple of months to exterminate those pesky game breakers. Are you still busting at the seems for what is one of the most anticipated games of 2016? Or has this delay been the last nail in the titles coffin for you?
