Everybody get excited, link arms and simultaneously squeal with glee because your favourite Wang filled, over-the-top FPS is back and ready to unload its goodness upon you.
For those not familiar, Shadow Warrior is this epic of a PC game that released almost 20 years ago, back in 1997. The game centred around protagonist Lo Wang as he used an arsenal of weaponry such as his katana, shurikens and a plethora of guns to mow through his enemies. The game played really well for its time – hell, it still does; but perhaps the most memorable thing about the game was its ridiculous and over-the-top dedication to not taking itself seriously. Here are a few quotes from the game to highlight exactly what I mean:
- “Who wants some Wang?”
- “You drive like a baboon in heat.”
- “Eat this, pencil dick!”
- “I stick a firecracker in your ass.”
- “You move like a pregnant yak.”
After Wang first presented himself to the general public back in 1997 – he didn’t get touched until way later when the game was re-made in 2013 (fun fact, the original game is now completely free on steam and you should play it!) Also arriving in 2013 was a re-boot of the game (new game, same name); and now we are finally being rewarded with a sequel to be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 13. Hazzah!
