The second Assassin’s Creed Movie trailer has been released by 20th Century Fox and Ubisoft, gives fans of the extremely popular Assassin’s Creed series some much needed optimism. But is it enough to make you take the Leap of Faith?
In a game-free year for the franchise the movie would fill the void for fans of the series, so it’s little wonder that hopes are high. Fans have been less than impressed with the release of the first trailer earlier this year; it seems the second trailer may have rectified this.
Featuring more fast-paced action, the second trailer showcases more of the assassins running around as parkour-happy kill-machines during the Spanish Inquisition, but also a lot more footage of Fassbender’s character in the present day. Sadly, unless Fox is keeping something hidden, I feel this is where most of the movie will take place. Overall its a great second trailer. The glimpses into present day, while too many, are nice enough, and its sure to be visually pleasing. I can’t help but think however that they’ve still missed the most important part of what makes Assassin’s Creed so enticing; those amazing historical moments. After all who really enjoyed their time out of the Animus?
The tricky thing with video game movies however, is you are working with a pretty solidly established universe, and fans are committed to those characters and the universe its self. Time will tell if those fans are willing to give this movie a chance. Directed by Justin Kurzel and staring Michael Fassbender, Jeremy Irons and Michael K. Williams we can at least be assured of one heck of a movie, so there is a glimmer of hope yet.
Regardless of your thoughts on the movie there’s still a lot to look forward to with this franchise; with Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection due out on November 17, 2016 its sure to be a must-have for any fan of the series.
