Gaming movies are nothing new, they’ve been around for a long time. Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros., Doom and World of Warcraft to name just a few. Now Microsoft has revealed on the Gears of War 4 Launch Stream that a Gears of War movie is officially being developed by Universal Studios.
With the launch of Gears of War 4 just days away, its little wonder that we’re hearing this news now. No writer or director has been announced yet, and Head of Coalition Studios Rod Fergusson said he wouldn’t confirm at what point in the Gears timeline the movie will take place. Fergusson was short on information to give, however, what he did say was very interesting to fans listening. His goal is not necessarily to copy over the story from a Gears games, but instead to make the best Gears movie possible; rather than one which is the most faithful to the games. These insights leaving some fans nervous, and others overjoyed, but I fear most were left with more questions than answers.
