After a rocky start it looks like Sony and Bethesda have finally come to an agreement regarding mod support on the PS4. The news comes directly from Bethesda’s website which states that “mod support is coming to PlayStation 4 for both Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4.”
Skyrim will be the first to receive the modded luxury when the Special Edition launches on October 28. Fallout 4 is said to receive its mod support later down the line but no specific date has been issues. Whilst the additional modding support is good news for the two games there will be limitations to what can be done with PS4 modding. The website post states that “you will not be able to upload external assets with your PlayStation 4 mods” meaning that all textures, models, sounds, etc will have to be found within the base game already.
Also announced, both games will be released with the PS4 Pro in mind, making use of its glorious 4K resolution capabilities. Some screenshots of the upcoming Skyrim Special Edition have been unveiled as well to give us a glimpse of how it will look in native 4K.
