Sundae Drive is anything but a soft serve

Posted on October 27, 2016

What looks to be one of the most promising and ridiculously fun indie titles we have seen for quite some time, Sundae Drive is available today to download and play for free on iOS devices.

In this arcade runner/shooter you control an ice-cream truck and serve (ie. launch) your ice-cream straight into your customers’ faces.  No time for waffle cones or Greensleeves here!

Upgrade your truck with add-ons to attract more customers and ice-cream cannon power-ups to inflict a greater ice-cream headache on your customers and foes alike!  Discover and unleash the coveted Monkey Gun or the fabled and ever so mysterious Game Changer.

Serve up your cold treats to a variety of pedestrians and unlock special pedestrians that include witches, wizards, robots, knights and ninjas.  However, beware you do not get ‘served’ yourself by the variety of hazards that include runaway pipes, wrecking balls, falling pianos, and the dreaded Sunday drivers.

This crazy and immensely fun sounding title is the product of indie developer Baby Steps Games that comprises the Melbourne-based (and out and proud) duo Andrew Jacobs (Programming, Game Design) and Marco Ryan (Creative Direction, Design, Modelling, Animation), with Darren Ballingall providing the in-game music.

“We noticed the gaming market across a number of platforms had a lot of focus on MMORPGs, FPS and RTS styled games but not a great deal on hitting people in the face with ice cream. So we felt the need to address this gap.” says Marco Ryan.

‘Come and play the only game with 64 bits of chocolate sprinkles and 128 bytes of sundae!’ and check out the dairy-induced crazy trailer for Sundae Drive here (with perhaps the best boss I have seen in quite awhile):
