In a move that no-one saw coming, Nintendo has announced plans to release a series of escape rooms centring on The Legend of Zelda across America early next year. Partnering up with an established escape room company called SCRAP, Defenders of the Triforce, a Zelda-based puzzle room, is sure to be a step above the rest.

“Instead of escaping from a locked room, participants work in teams of six to solve a mystery in a huge area, all within a set time limit,” says Nintendo.
“The experience will let guests interact with classic items and characters seen in The Legend of Zelda series like the Goron, Zora and Kokiri tribes. Discovered items can be used to solve puzzles and move forward into other areas, just like in The Legend of Zelda games.”
So far, only dates for 4 locations have been announced for early 2017, However, with a total of 8 cities across the USA listed in the preview video, we can only hope that list will continue to grow to include international locations.
- San Francisco – Jan. 31-Feb. 5
- Los Angeles – Feb. 10-12
- Phoenix – Feb. 14-15
- San Diego – Feb. 24-25
Escape rooms have been popping up more and more here in Sydney and Melbourne, so here is hoping that Nintendo brings this limited experience down under.
For a taste of what’s on offer, head over to their website. That’s really just a tease though, as even if you are planning a trip to the states next year, almost all sessions announced are already sold out.
