The game came second in the Checkpoint Game of the Year and the fans sure agree. Final Fantasy XV has sold over 5 million copies on opening day making it the fastest selling game in the entire franchise, with a simultaneous world-wide release on both PS4 and Xbox One.
Final Fantasy VII (1997) is currently the best-selling game of the Final Fantasy series with over 11 million copies sold worldwide, and it looks as though FF XV is set to blitz this record.
FF XV is also rumoured to be one of the most expensive Square Enix games developed and also has one of the most expensive collector’s items at launch: a replica Audi R8 Star of Lucis that went up for lottery for approximately 50 million yen (nearly $600k AUD).
For the three of you who haven’t yet check out Square Enix’s latest masterpiece, check out the review by Jakob who sums up the game perfectly as “breathtakingly beautiful” and “a brave entry that upholds the legacy of one of my most beloved video game series of all time and seeks to go even further”.
