UPDATE: According to Atlus, the game, currently titled Project Re Fantasy “is in the earliest of stages of development” and aims to be “a return to the roots of where the Japanese games industry began with fantasy role-playing games.”
On top of that, Soejima and Meguro will continue their work on the Persona series, Atlus added that “P-Studio, the production team in charge of Persona, will continue to operate at full strength to develop new entries to fulfill demand for the series.”
Check out the Japanese teaser trailer below.
It doesn’t show much – but it is just a teaser, after all! One thing that stands out is the realistic style, a real departure from the intense anime we’re used to from this team. The concept art shows a figure battling a dragon, defending a princess-like character, so perhaps this could be something a bit more traditional?
Original story: With the upcoming release of Persona 5 the team at Atlus shows no signs of slowing down as rumours of another series in development have spread across the internet. A new development arm, called Studio Zero, has reportedly been created to work on this new title.
Details surrounding the new project are scarce as the official announcement is set for release later this week, but that hasn’t stopped some information from getting out. The current belief is that this new RPG title will be a fantasy title, different from the current day settings of the Persona series.
A concept image has been released from Atlus artist Shigenori Soejima. This art style and aesthetic backs up the fantasy setting rumour, as well as assuring fans that this new series will be just as aesthetically pleasing as Persona.
Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino is heading up the project with composer Shoji Meguro also on board. More news to come as soon as we have it.
