For those of you out there who love a good JRPG, have we got news for you. DotEmu; game developers and publishers, known for specializing in the recreation of cherished retro games, have announced the re-release of Ys Origin on Playstaion 4 and Playstaion Vita in 2017.
Originally released in 2006, Ys Origin served as a prequel to Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished, the first games in an extensive game series spanning seven sequels. This captivating JRPG has been given new life with enhanced graphics, multiple languages to choose from and a more accessible menu.
The story is set 700 years in the past when a demonic invasion tears the world of Ys asunder. Thanks, however, to the magic of the twin goddesses ,the inhabitants are saved and raised up into the sky to live safely. With the passing of time the demons begin to construct a tower to once again terrorize the populace, and with the twin goddesses nowhere to be found it’s up to you, the player, to find them and save your people.
Ys Origin follows the travels of two selectable characters; Yunica a brave and honorable warrior whose skills with an axe are unmatched, or Hugo a cunning and resourceful mage who uses devastating spells to quell his enemies. Either character will have you running around the screen, facing down foes, and conquering giant bosses all the while enjoying a classic RPG soundtrack.
Ys Origin is set for release on the Playstation Network on February 21st 2017.
