Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games have shown off the first trailer for their re-released LEGO game, Lego City Undercover. An interesting crime solving game, Undercover follows the story of Chase McCain (no relation to John McClaine) a wise cracking officer who has been tasked with going undercover and apprehending a recently escaped criminal by the name of Rex Fury, who created a one-man city-wide crime wave.
The trailer itself appears to have drawn from many well received police comedies and dramas and created a game appropriate for gamers of all ages. I distinctly felt an 80’s vibe while watching the story unfold and was fondly reminded of such shows like Starsky and Hutch and Miami Vice. The humour, dialogue, and LEGO-related references in Undercover appear to have been well written and had me laughing at its absurdity, but it works in the games favour.
Lego City Undercover will feature an open world map with more than 20 unique districts to investigate, filled with car thieves to arrest, vehicles to control, rambunctious aliens to capture, lost pigs (not cops) to rescue, numerous witty nods to cop movies past, and of course, hundreds of collectables to find and treasure.
Guaranteed fun for all ages, Lego City Undercover is planned for release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Spring 2017.
