Codemasters, the creators of the Micro Machines games, have announced the return of the series to PC, PS4 and Xbox One in April this year. Micro Machines World Series will support online play of up to 12 players at a time, along with a 4 player local co-op mode.
After the success of Toybox Turbos (a Micro Machines spiritual successor by the same developers) it was made clear to the studio that a new Micro Machines was the way to go. However it seems that not every part of the series will be returning, with only some of the original game modes being announced alongside the title. Race, Elimination, Battle Arena and team modes set around King of the Hill style game types were confirmed. Most fans will be remiss to hear that the league mode was not included in the announcement, with the league mode being the heart and soul of the last game.
