Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have released a cinematic trailer foreshadowing the upcoming story of Injustice 2. The trailer summarises the dark events of the first Injustice and subtly alludes to the unknown future ahead for Batman and his comrades in its upcoming sequel.
In the trailer, we see a world recovering from the tyranny of a grief-stricken Superman; what comes after is the story of the fallout and attempted repair of a shattered society with Batman at the helm. The trailer delves into the philosophical realms of justice; what are its requirements, its needs, and its justifications? We get to see small scuffles between Batman and Robin as well as Supergirl and Wonder Woman, begging the question, who is on whose side? Brief villain cameos from Bane and Poison Ivy are also thrown into the mix, but their roles are far from made clear.
A saying made by the Batman himself “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain” appears to be a strong thematic undertone, as the lines of good and bad are about to be redrawn.
Injustice 2 is set for release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the 17th of May 2017 in Australia and is already available for pre-order, with bonus content available, including Darkseid as a playable fighter and additional character skins.
