Smite Rivals: a new card game announced from the Smite developers

Posted January 6, 2017

Hi-Rez studios are further expanding the Smite universe with their latest game, Smite Rivals. The game has been described as a MOBA inspired card game and will join the original Smite (third-person MOBA) and Smite Tactics (turn-based strategy) as the third member of the Smite family.

“The Battleground of the Gods is more adorable than ever in SMITE Rivals, a new Collectible Card Arena from the makers of SMITE. Build a deck of Gods, Minions, Structures, and Spells, then bring your cards to life by dragging them into a three-lane battlefield! Are you godly enough to defeat your opponent in this real-time multiplayer brawl?” – reads the game’s webpage.

Rivals will be a free-to-play experience coming to PC and mobile devices at an undisclosed date in 2017. The game will save your progress between all devices which means you can jump off your PC and pick up your phone to continue where you left off. For those looking to squeeze their way into the closed beta you can sign up here.

With clear parallels to be made between Rivals and Clash Royale it will be interesting to see what this project has to offer when it releases.
