Well it’s official. Ultra>Hyper>New>Turbo>Special.
As part of the 30th anniversary of the Street Fighter franchise, Capcom have announced a re-launch of their Street Fighter II title for the Nintendo Switch.
With an oh-so-typical Capcom title of Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (err final? Let’s just ignore the sequels for now), this upcoming title features all of the Street Fighter II cast as well as the ‘final challengers’ Evil Ryu and Violent Ken; because, simply, Passive Ken just didn’t cut it.
Evil Ryu is a version of the Ryu character who has completely lost his honour after getting overpowered by his lust for fighting, allowing more power in battle. Violent Ken is a version of the Ken character who had his powers enhanced and got brainwashed by M. Bison. And here you thought they would just be the same characters with a slight palette change!
You can choose to play Ultra Street Fighter II in retro pixel graphic mode or remastered for the Switch.
Ultra Street Fighter II includes a new mode where you can team up with a friend against the CPU. The Switch’s nifty Joy-Con controller also means you can challenge your friends anywhere!
Ultra Street Fighter II certainly looks ultra cool, but will this new addition to the Nintendo Switch lineup convince you to make the journey down memory lane? For me this is only Round Two.
