Accio! New LEGO Dimensions Content is on its way!

Posted on February 5, 2017

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have  recently released details about three expansions (or worlds) to be released for LEGO Dimensions. The worlds in question include 80’s movie classic The Goonies, the enchanting book series phenomenon Harry Potter, and their very own home grown LEGO City.

These fun packs are designed to expand upon the Dimensions world, allowing players to mix and match their favourite characters and insert them into worlds they wouldn’t usually inhabit.  In addition to this, the LEGO mini-figures included in each expansion pack come with a golden toy tag which will unlock a free play ‘Adventure World’ and ‘Battle Arena’ corresponding to the level pack purchased. Each Battle Arena is unique to the world of the specific character used to open it, will feature competitive split-screen local gameplay for up to four players, and will have a number of cool gameplay modes including Capture the Flag, Base Bash, Tick, Tag, Boom, and various others.

The Goonies level pack includes a full chapter of gameplay where players are tasked with assisting Sloth and Chunk escape the Fratelli hideout to join the rest of the Goonies on their hunt for One Eyed Willy’s treasure. Players will be able to utilise Sloth’s super strength to smash through walls, or instead use Chunk and have fun with his legendary Truffle Shuffle. Sloth provides access to the Goonies Battle Arena and Adventure World where players can explore Mikey’s House, Inferno Cove, and the Good Docks. Once play-through of the level is complete, players will be able to replay the game and other levels as any of the seven other Goonies characters to solve additional puzzles and gather more collectables throughout their journey.

For those who are big wizarding world fans, like me, you’ll love getting the Harry Potter fun pack which includes everyone’s favourite witch, Hermione! Ms. Granger will be able to cast a plethora of spells including Wingardium Leviosa (it’s Levi-O-sa) to levitate objects, and Lumos to light up darkened areas. She also allows players to unlock the Harry Potter Battle Arena and Adventure World where players can explore Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and Diagon Alley. Players will also be able to build the 3-in-1 ride-able Hippogriff, Buckbeak, and use its stomp attack to smash silver LEGO bricks which can be rebuilt into the Giant Owl and Fierce Falcon for additional in-game content.

Players looking to fight crime need look no further, as Chase McCain jumps back into action, raring and ready to go. Within the game, Chase will be able to change roles to complete specific tasks such as a miner to break down silver LEGO blocks or a fireman to douse fires with the use of his handy water beam. Players will also be granted the use of Chase’s LEGO City Detective Scanner to track down criminals and change his disguise to unlock more abilities. Within the LEGO City Adventure world there will be new areas to explore like Blackwell’s moon base, and the LEGO City Police Department. Players will also be able to use a 3-in-1 police helicopter that can be rebuilt into either plane or hovercraft to grant access to areas otherwise unassailable without.

With all this new content coming out it looks as though fans of the LEGO series have their hands full for a while to come. The three LEGO Dimension Level Packs, playable on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U, will be available for purchase from the 12th of May 2017, so start saving, and get ready to start building.
