For all you Dragon Quest fans out there, Square Enix has released a brand spankin’ new overview trailer of its upcoming game, Dragon Quest Heroes II. The trailer is designed to entice players, new and old, into the Dragon Quest world as well as provide details on the action-RPG.
Starting off with a bit of lore surrounding the game’s history, we learn that a thousand years ago the world was engulfed in a war so great it split the country into seven realms. When the war ended the realms managed to sustain a peaceful co-existence, however a dark shadow once again loomed over the country, threatening to engulf everything in its path.
Players are given the choice between two protagonists, Lazaro or Theresa, to journey the world’s seven realms. During your adventure players will create a four-man team including legendary heroes from past Dragon Quest games. Before travelling you’ll be able to customise your team’s weapons and abilities to suit your play-style and requirements, as well as select your class types from roles such as warrior, priest, or thief, to name a few.
The most exciting new aspect of Dragon Quest Heroes II that I am really pleased was announced is the online co-op mode, in which players may team up with 3 other members to explore a field and complete missions. This mode is something its predecessor was severely lacking, as a hack and slash game such as this greatly benefits from team play. As to how well its system works with connecting people, only time will tell.
Players looking for a more comprehensive experience will have the opportunity to purchase the “Explorers Edition”. The Explorers Edition provides players with 15 exclusive DLC items as well as a reversible cover artwork that depicts an in-game adventure log. The DLC also includes weapons designed from popular enemies in the game, including the Slime Knight’s Shield, Great Sabreclaws, Golem Gauntlets, and more.
Dragon Quest Heroes II will arrive across Europe and PAL territories (which includes Australia) for the PlayStation 4 on April 28th 2017 and Steam on April 25th 2017.
