For players who love a good scary game with mystery and survival elements thrown in, you are certainly in for a treat with Kôna. Developer Parabole have just announced the game will be releasing on console alongside the previously revealed PC version. A trailer has also been released by Sony to celebrate the upcoming game.
The story is set in the 1970’s and centers around Carl Faubert, a war veteran turned private eye. A long and cold winter is approaching Atamipek Lake, Northern Quebec, and Carl is making his way out to meet a client named W. Hamilton – a rich industrialist. Hamilton has hired Carl to investigate a spate of retaliatory vandalisms and thefts, after the local Cree inhabitants accused Hamilton of destroying sacred land solely for the purpose of increasing his own profits.
Believing the case to be fairly open and closed, Carl has happily accepted the job from his deep-pocketed client, but when he reaches Hamilton’s residence he is nowhere to be found. After some initial investigation it would appear that not only is Hamilton missing… but the whole area is deserted. What happened to his client? Where are the other local residents? Does this have something to do with the Cree?
This is where the game begins and players are tasked with investigating their surroundings, locating clues and other people to help solve the mystery, all the while surviving a sinister force that appears to be pursuing him.
The trailer gives very little story or gameplay away, but it has been noted that the game will play in an episodic format. As to how many episodes, that has not yet been established, but it has received quite high approval ratings from those who have played the early access version of the first episode on PC.
Kôna is releasing on the 17th of March 2017 and will available for download on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One through their respective stores, as well as on PC via Steam and GOG.
