Nintendo Switch digital game sizes revealed

Posted February 21, 2017

Digital download sizes for numerous Nintendo Switch titles have been released by Nintendo of Japan.

Below is the list of games:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 13.4 GB
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 7 GB
  • Snipperclips: Cut it Out, Together! – 1.60 GB
  • Disgaea 5 – 5.92 GB
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris – 1.09 GB
  • I Am Setsuna – 1.40 GB
  • Dragon Quest Heroes I·II – 32 GB
  • Nobunaga’s Ambition – 5 GB

Given that the Switch only has an internal memory capacity of 32GB, however lessened by the Switch OS, those planning on downloading Dragon Quest Heroes I.II may be let down since the file is too big for the system. Nintendo have confirmed that a separate SD card will be made available to help secure bigger games on the system; however, there will be cheaper SD cards available that don’t have the “official branding”.

On an important note this issue only applies to digital copies. Unlike the PS4 and Xbox One, Switch games don’t require an install so it’s simple to load and play without worry of taking up loads of space on the system.

Keep in mind that these are the Japanese download sizes we are still yet to see what the download sizes for Australia and the rest of the world are, however according to Gamespot The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the same size for all.
