It appears Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have more to show us with the recent release of Shattered Alliances Part 3, for Injustice 2. This time the trailer casts the spotlight on Supergirl and her personal journey from Kryptonian refugee to Earth’s defender. But with Superman standing in her way, will she be able to save the Earth without tearing the ‘House of El’ asunder in the process?
The trailer begins with Kara fleeing for her life as the planet Krypton is invaded and subsequently destroyed. Having barely escaped in a pod, she takes a glimpse at a young Kryptonian baby, Kal-El, which we all know to be the future Superman, who has also managed to escape the carnage of their home planet. As Kara bears witness to the final moment of her planet, one message runs through her head – “Never Give up Hope”.
Flashing forward to the situation at hand, Supergirl finds herself locked in a fierce battle with Black Adam, who, it would seem, has no issue fighting at full force, literally destroying an Egyptian pyramid in the process. Her duty towards protecting the people of Earth seems to be in jeopardy as she struggles to dissuade Superman from his tyrannical crusade, stating that the “S” symbol on their chest needs to stand for hope, not fear. Will Superman heed her words or will this crusade to save humanity prove to be the end for our heroine?
At the very least it would appear that Black Adam, Captain Marvel’s arch-enemy is making his return to the battle roster, but as no official word has been made, this is only speculation for now.
Developed by the award-winning NetherRealm Studios, Injustice 2 will feature an impressive roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and allow players to build and power up the ultimate version of their favourite DC characters. The game will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 24th 2017.
