Blizzard has today announced their intention to breath new life into their 1998 RTS (real-time strategy) classic, StarCraft, with StarCraft Remastered.
The game is a complete remaster of both the original game as well as the game’s expansion: Brood War.
With improved graphics, Blizzard intends to push StarCraft Remastered into the modern era whilst maintaining the core gameplay experience.
We’ve remastered our units, buildings, and environments, improved game audio, and broadened our supported resolutions. Illustrated interludes bring the struggles and victories of heroes like Artanis, Fenix, Tassadar, Raynor and Kerrigan to life like never before. Most importantly, the strategy gameplay that StarCraft perfected years ago remains unchanged. – [source]
StarCraft Remastered will have improved visuals, 4K resolution support, improved audio quality, and will be playable through the Blizzard launcher (previously Battle.net).
A price hasn’t yet been revealed for the updated game, however we do know to expect it towards the end of the year.
