After a being picked up by a new publisher, System Shock 3 will now be heading to “other platforms” as well as PC.
Swedish games publisher / developer Starbreeze has announced that they will be taking on the role of publisher for System Shock 3 with a $12 million investment. Starbreeze has also stated that the game will come “to PC and other platforms.” We can take guesses that this means we will see System Shock 3 on PS4 and Xbox One but for now there is no confirmation. With the help of Starbreeze’s investment, developer Otherside Entertainment will be able to retain all rights to System Shock 3 as well as benefiting from their marketing muscle.
Unfortunately there is no release date yet announced for the upcoming sci-fi RPG.
If you can’t wait and need your System Shock fix, never fear! A reboot of the original System Shock is on its way to PS4, PC and Xbox One in 2018. Being rebooted by Nightdive studios, it’ll certainly be a fantastic nostalgia trip for those who remember the original and an excellent introduction to the series for those who may be a bit too young to remember it.
I’m just hoping they scaled back the difficulty a tad!
