Koei Tecmo America has revealed some exciting online features, an expanded character roster and new foes to battle in the upcoming sequel to the demon-hunting RPG, Toukiden 2. Slated for release in March on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC via Steam, this online playability is a great addition to the already actions packed game. A new trailer was released earlier this week, featuring the games online capabilities, additional gameplay elements and story.
Toukiden 2 will offer players a rich online environment in which Slayers can team up to fell ferocious demons known Oni. During gameplay, slayers may come across mysterious portal stones, which, when handled will transport players to the multiplayer lobby. Accepting missions at the command hub will allow up to four players to join forces and battle Oni throughout the ages, providing them the upper-hand in battle if teamwork is applied. The multiplayer feature can be used on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions of Toukiden 2, with the option of local ad-hoc network multiplayer available to Vita users. Slayers can make themselves unique by utilizing the games expanse character creations system, which boasts an abundance of different visual styles, previously unseen in the Toukiden series.
Online multiplayer capabilities aside, Toukiden 2’s campaign experience has been heavily enhanced. Setting aside the main storyline missions delivered from the Holy Mount, players will be able to explore a various terrain open world and encounter other Slayers during play for cooperative Joint Operations. By joining forces and completing missions, a variety of new rewards will become available, such as weaponry, armour, and new Mitama, as well as the opportunity to form a party. When playing offline slayers can still carry out joint operations by meeting doppelgangers, ghost data versions of their online friends, which offer the same functionality as human companions.
Helping out your fellow Slayers proves to be its own reward, when you are given the opportunity to exchange extra equipment using the Reliquaries. Against tough foes it’ll help to even the odds by giving others more powerful weapons and armour by placing your goods in these containers, which can then be retrieved by other Slayers. This act of generosity does not go unrewarded as players will be given in return a new item of equal value. It makes sense to cast aside your unused and unwanted items as they may serve someone better and you’ll stand the chance of getting another item better suited to your needs. This new feature also adds a level of connectivity and unity not previously available.
Not content with just new online content, Toukiden 2 has also released a battalion of new Oni inspired by western lore. The Drawking, a reptilian beast resembling a legendary dragon, the Canidaemon, a wolf-like creature that wields the power of wind and lightning in its tail, the Wingspawn, and Oni that breaths a deadly poison and can transform people into demons, and the Bruteclaw, a heavily armoured six-legged demon are just of the few of the new creatures players can test their mettle against.
Toukiden 2 is set to release in Australia on the 24th of March 2017 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC via Steam.
