Activision has revealed, after many rumours, that the next iteration of Call of Duty will indeed go right back to WWII.
After Infinite Warfare saw mixed reviews from critics and fans alike last year, taking Call of Duty into outer space, Call of Duty is going back to its roots and focusing on what made the franchise so successful to begin with. The last game to feature WWII was 2008’s World at War. Some images have leaked, though they don’t show much.
Sledgehammer Games are taking another turn at developing this one; they also developed the pretty great Advanced Warfare, so it’s definitely in good hands. Battlefield 1 also recently showed that going back to a more historic setting can do a franchise wonders.
We don’t know much at this stage, but the worldwide reveal livestream of Call of Duty: WWII will be kicking off on Thursday, April 27 at 3pm AEST.
